Four-speed Stage 1 models used a heavier-duty clutch and mandated a limited-slip differential. All Stage 1s received specific reinforced upper control arms. The Stage 1 package gained an advertised 10 hp more than a basic GS 455 (making 360 gross horsepower total), while the legendary 510 lb-ft of torque remained the same as ordinary GS models.
